During the 2025 BCS Membership Elections, 10 new officers and committee members were elected to role and officially welcomed at the 2025 BCS AGM, held on Wednesday 4 June at our Annual Conference.
We asked the new members to introduce themselves and tell us how they feel about elected to position and what they hope to bring to the role during their tenure.

“I am honoured to be joining the Women in Cardiology Committee to continue my work towards reducing barriers that discourage people from pursuing a career in this specialty. I am particularly passionate about improving radiation protection practices and developing supportive mentorship for those who return to the field after a career break – initiatives that I hope to champion during my tenure”

“I’m honoured to be elected to the BCS Guidelines and Practice Committee. I look forward to contributing to national guideline development that reflects the latest advances in cardiology. My focus will include improving care pathways for cardiomyopathies – particularly HCM and cardiac amyloidosis – where new treatment options are rapidly emerging, as well as advancing cardio-renal-metabolic medicine. I’m committed to supporting equitable access to innovation, aligning UK practice with international standards, and ensuring our guidelines serve diverse patient populations across the NHS”

Dr Sarah Blake is a cardiology registrar at Royal Brompton Hospital, specialising in adult congenital heart disease and cardiac imaging. As one of the inaugural Clinical Artificial Intelligence Fellows Dr Blake is actively involved in deploying AI software to enhance the interpretation of medical imaging. She serves on the Women in Cardiology Committee, advocating for greater equality and inclusion in the field. She is committed to integrating AI into healthcare to improve efficiency and accuracy, allowing healthcare professionals to focus more on patient care.

“I’m honoured to be BCS Honorary Secretary Elect. The BCS has a very bright future, and I look forward to working with the President to represent the interests of all members and our patients”

“It is an absolute honour to be elected to the BCS Programme Committee. I look forward to contributing fresh ideas, supporting trainee voices, and helping shape a forward-thinking inclusive conference programme during my tenure”

“I’m very pleased to have been elected as a member of the Clinical Standards Committee. I feel privileged and would like to thank all for their support in providing me with an opportunity to contribute to the work of the BCS”

“I feel glad to be able to pass on my old duties at the BCS in clinical standards, but to still keep contributing for the Society around environmental issues, something I feel is really important for all of us and our patients”

“I’m really excited to get this role within the BCS which has been on my radar for a number of years. I can’t wait to get started representing all my DGH colleagues at a national level. We are a broad church and very much the backbone of cardiology in the UK”
We also welcomed Dr Dominique Auger to the Digital and IT Committee and Dr Anmol Kaushal to Council (Ex-officio Role).
