We are delighted to celebrate that Professor André Ng has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List, for his contributions to medical research and healthcare.
As well as BCS President (2024-2027), Professor Ng is Professor of Cardiac Electrophysiology and former head of the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester, as well as a Consultant Cardiologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
Professor Ng, President of the British Cardiovascular Society, said:
“I am humbled and deeply honoured to receive the MBE. Caring for patients and contributing to research that advances understanding, innovation and treatment have been among the most rewarding aspects of my professional life.
“This recognition reflects the contributions of many outstanding colleagues and teams with whom I have had the privilege to work at the University of Leicester, the British Cardiovascular Society and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Together, across preclinical science, engineering innovation, clinical research and clinical trials, we have sought to translate discovery into better care and improved outcomes for patients.”
Caroline Langley, CEO of the British Cardiovascular Society, said:
“We are delighted that André has been recognised for his ongoing contributions to cardiovascular disease, both in research and healthcare. Throughout his presidency of the BCS, as well as when he served in other roles within our organisation, André has dedicated his time and expertise towards advancing our key objectives of training and education of the cardiovascular workforce, both through his leadership and by championing clinical excellence.
“It is fantastic news, to know that he receives this well-deserved recognition while still in post as BCS President. He has been a great servant to the BCS, the NHS, and most importantly, his patients.”
Our warmest congratulations to Professor Ng for this accolade.
