Heart Health Check
The BCS Heart Health Check has been sponsored by Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Limited however Novartis has not had any input into the content or development of this initiative. The data gathered from the BCS Heart Health Check will be analysed to produce an aggregated anonymised summary report, which will be shared with Novartis.
Building on the success of the LP(a) testing initiative at the 2024 BCS Annual Conference, BCS is introducing a Heart Health Check offering a holistic cardiovascular health screening designed to empower delegates with insights into their health and support the implementation of preventive measures for their patients.
The Heart Health Check will include:
Lp(a) Test: Detects elevated lipoprotein(a), a genetic risk factor for cardiovascular diseases like heart attack and stroke, enabling personalised treatment strategies.
Lipid Panel: Identifies abnormal cholesterol and triglyceride levels, providing insights into atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease risk.
HbA1c Test: Measures long-term blood sugar control to aid in diabetes management and prevent complications.
Hypertension Test: Identifies high blood pressure, a leading cause of heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure.

These screenings provide early detection of cardiovascular and metabolic risks, encouraging proactive health management among delegates. By fostering awareness and promoting prevention, the BCS Conference demonstrates its commitment to driving a paradigm shift in cardiovascular care.
BCS has contracted Euromedix to carry out the Heart Health Check, experts in cardiovascular disease risk screening. With skilled personnel with expertise in cardiovascular pathologies, diabetes, and prevention.
All delegates will sign a consent form before testing and complete a pre-sample questionnaire. You can complete the online form at any point before the conference to avoid queuing during the conference.
Finger-prick testing accessories to ensure efficiency and convenience.
As duty of care, Euromedix personnel will answer questions regarding the testing initiative and its results. Euromedix will provide a result card, and patient brochure to all participants tested, explaining the outcome and signposting them to consult their GP for further information.
