The government’s 10 Year Health Plan represents a major step change in the way NHS services will be organised and provided, and has many welcome initiatives.
We particularly welcome the focus on CVD as a priority, both in reducing cardiovascular disease and increasing prevention, and the government’s determination to address this from different angles (public health, advanced technology, implementation research, public campaigns).
We also warmly welcome the focus on ending inequalities in access to care. These issues were key points of our initial evidence to the Plan consultation.
In our response, we address the aspects of the Plan relating to cardiology, the ‘three shifts’, genomics and use of new technologies, with a focus on what needs to be put in place to make transition successful.
