BCS membership offers you great opportunities to engage with the wider cardiology community in the UK and worldwide.
As a BCS member you receive free or heavily discounted early bird registration to our annual conference, discounted registration to our courses and free access to an array of online resources such as our video library, Heart journal and ESC Textbook.
You also have the opportunity to take part in our Emerging Leaders Programme and Mentoring programme
As a cardiologist or trainee cardiologist based outside of the UK, you should apply for our International membership.
If you completed your cardiology training you are no longer entitled to our Associate BJCA membership.
You can change your membership category from your BCS profile and in your settings, cancel your current membership and select the Ordinary membership on the paywall.
We offer membership for students from Foundation year 1, which is the Associate BJCA membership.
If you are an undergraduate with an interest in Cardiology, you can join the British Undergraduate Cardiovascular Association (BUCA)
Emeritus membership is our free membership to fully retired members.
Please be advised that you can only apply for this membership if you are no longer working for the NHS or privately.

Honorary membership is awarded by the BCS to recognise a significant contribution to the field of cardiology. It indicates to colleagues and patients that the member is part of a group of professionals whose high standing in the field has been recognised by their peers.
This membership category can not be applied for.

Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer a discounted membership fee for those working less than full time, on parental leave or on a career break.
We offer 4 types of membership:
- Ordinary membership = £365
- SAS Doctor membership = £220
- Ordinary introductory offer = £220 (only for new Ordinary member and valid for 1 year)
- Associate BJCA membership = £155
- Affiliate membership = £65
- International membership = £125
Consultant cardiologists, Specialty and Associate Specialists (SAS) doctors and nurse, physiologists, basic scientists and GPS with a special interest in cardiology, apply for Ordinary membership
Cardiology resident doctors from FY1 to ST8, apply for Associate BJCA membership
Members of a BCS affiliated societies who are not consultants, apply for Affiliate membership
Consultant cardiologists and trainees living and working outside of the UK, apply for International membership
For those in the UK: payment is made by Direct Debit via GoCardless.
For those outside the UK: payment is made by card via Stripe
The BCS membership period is for 12 months and payment is collected annually. We don’t offer monthly payments.
Your membership is renewed once a year via the payment method you selected when you joined. You will receive regular email renewal reminders prior to your membership expiry date.
BCS members benefit from a heavily discounted subscription fee to the printed Heart journal, £100 per year.
