Dr Adil Mahmood
Dr Adil Mahmood is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow at Queen Mary University of London and a Specialist Registrar in Cardiology at Barts Health NHS Trust. He studied Medicine at King’s College London, in between which he undertook an intercalated BSc at Imperial College London and graduated with First Class Honours. He regularly teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students, including PACES candidates. He has a research interest in cardiac MRI and has published several original articles in high-impact journals and presented at national and international level.
Dr Adil Mahmood
Dr Ahmed Kotb is a Cardiology Registrar in the Deanery of Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. He completed a research fellowship at the University of Leicester under Professor Andre Ng to investigate atrial fibrillation and is currently an honorary clinical research fellow and an MD candidate. He graduated from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 2015 with an MBBCh (Hons) where he also obtained his Masters in Cardiovascular sciences. His interests are in Atrial fibrillation, Digital health and AI.
Alexander Stevenson
Dr Alexander Stevenson attended the University of Oxford Medical School achieving a first-class honours degree during his intercalated BSc year before graduating with his medical degree in 2016. He completed his foundation and core medical training in London and is currently working as a cardiology ST4 trainee within the North West Thames deanery. His sub-speciality interests include cardiac imaging and heart failure and he has several publications in peer-reviewed journals. He also has a keen interest in medical education having completed a PG Cert in Clinical Education.
Arsalan Khalil
Dr Arsalan Khalil is a Cardiology Registrar working in North, Central and East London Deanery. He is currently based at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. His areas of interest include Cardiac Imaging, Structural heart disease and Medical Education. He has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in respected journals focusing on important topics in cardiovascular medicine and healthcare improvement. In addition to his medical pursuits, Dr Khalil actively engages with his community, promoting health awareness initiatives and contributing to educational programmes.
Awais Sheikh
Dr Awais Sheikh is a Cardiology registrar in North West Thames. He graduated from the University of Birmingham. His interests are in imaging and heart failure.
Bradley Chambers
Dr Brad Chambers graduated with an MBChB from the University of Leeds in 2015, having obtained an intercalated degree in Anatomy in relation to Medicine. He is currently a Cardiology Registrar in the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery with a subspecialty interests in Imaging, EP and devices and Sports cardiology and is planning to undertake research into 4D flow Cardiac MRI.
Christos Kotanidis
Dr Chris Kotanidis is a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology at the University of Newcastle with a research interest in translational data science and cardiovascular imaging. He obtained his medical degree in Greece and his DPhil from the University of Oxford.
Damanpreet Singh Dev
Dr Damanpreet Singh Dev is currently an ST4 trainee in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine. He has undertaken the development of an educational website, fostering collaborative relationships with esteemed organizations such as the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, British Cardiovascular Society (BCS), British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS), and British Junior Cardiologists Association (BJCA), both in the past and present.
He assumes roles as an Associate Principal Investigator in the CE-MARC3 study and as a coinvestigator in PROTECT-HF. These responsibilities have provided him with invaluable experience, further enhancing his comprehension of research trials, and laying a robust foundation for his forthcoming research pursuits. Within the academic realm, his interests lie in the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), heart failure, and cardiovascular imaging.
Hesham Aggour
Dr Hesham Aggour is a cardiology registrar in the Thames Valley Deanery currently based in Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust. He graduated with an MBBCh (Hons) from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 2014 and obtained his Masters in Cardiovascular Medicine from his alma mater in 2019. He has an interest in coronary and structural intervention, and he is planning to go out of training program to pursue further post graduate qualifications.
Karthik Chandrasekhara
Dr Karthik Chandrasekharan graduated from the University of Cambridge Medical School in 2017 and, after completing the Academic Foundation Programme and Internal Medicine Training in London, is currently a Cardiology Registrar in the East of England. He has a keen interest in research, and was recently a topic editor for the journal Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine. He also enjoys teaching, having been a bye-fellow and supervisor in pharmacology at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge.
Kaung Lwin
Dr Kaung Lwin is currently an ST7 Interventional Cardiology trainee in the East of England. He graduated from medical school in Myanmar and received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Medical and Healthcare Education. He has been working within the NHS since 2015 and completed Core Medical training in the West Midlands. Following that, he promptly joined as a Cardiology specialty trainee in Essex.
Kayla Chiew
Dr Kayla Chiew is an NIHR academic clinical fellow in cardiology at Barts Health NHS Trust. She graduated from Imperial College London in 2019 with an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiovascular Sciences. Her research during this time focused on Arrhythmic Risk Stratification as well as AV Sequential Pacing to Reduce Outflow Tract Obstruction in Patients with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy. She hopes to pursue subspecialty training in intervention, and has an interest in coronary physiology, structural heart disease, and clinical trials.
Neil Bodagh
Neil Bodagh graduated with Honours and Distinction in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 2015. He started speciality training in 2020 as a Cardiology Academic Clinical Fellow in the South Thames deanery. He has come out of programme to commence a role as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Research Group at King’s College London/St Thomas’ Hospital.
Olivia Basquill
Dr Olivia Basquill (née Clayton) is a speciality cardiology registrar (ST5) in the Severn Deanery. Her interests include pacing, heart failure, digital health and medical education.
Patrick Savage
Dr Patrick Savage is a Cardiology registrar based in Northern Ireland. He is currently undertaking a MD (Res) investigating the effect of SGLT2 inhibition on novel cardiac biomarkers in heart failure. His sub-specialty interest is intervention.
Preethi Suresh
Preethi Suresh graduated from medical school in 2015 and completed foundation and core medical training in Oxford and Yorkshire and Humber deanery respectively. She is an East of England Cardiology registrar (ST5) with a subspecialty interest in percutaneous cardiovascular interventions. She is currently the chair of higher speciality training board (EOE). Her interest in becoming a sub-editor stemmed from her passion for teaching and education. Her research interests include being a sub-investigator in clinical trials investigating the management and prevention of coronary artery disease.
Raheel Ahmed
Dr Raheel Ahmed graduated from Newcastle University in 2014. He was into his ST5 of cardiology training in September 2021 before he went out of programme (OOP) to start a PhD post at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He currently holds an integral position in the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh’s (RCPe) Trainees and Members’ Committee and is part of MRCP PACES scenario writing group. He is the current winner of the National John Munro Medal for Excellence in Teaching award (2021). He has a strong interest in research and has published several articles and abstracts so far, starting in medical school with an article published in Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC). He also works as a reviewer for European Heart Journal – Case Reports.
Rumneek Hampal
Dr Rumneek Hampal graduated from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2018 and completed her Foundation and Core Medical Training in South London. She is training as a Cardiology Registrar in the South London Deanery and has commenced ST4 this year. Her main interests are in Cardiac Imaging and Heart Failure.
Yusuf Kiberu
Dr Yusuf Kiberu graduated from the University of Oradea, Romania and completed his foundation and internal medicine training in London and Cambridge. He is currently a Cardiology registrar (ST5) in the East of England deanery. He is passionate about medical education and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and a Cambridge medical student clinical supervisor. He is also a director of the British Ugandan Doctors Association (BUDA), bringing together doctors of Ugandan ancestry in the UK, to promote healthcare initiatives within the diaspora as well as in Uganda.
